Here are 5 tips to help you gain readership and engage your audience:

1. Keep it simple. No one wants to read one huge, long paragraph or a book chapter. Instead, take your ideas, simplify them. Another option is to break them up into separate posts, bulleted lists, or short paragraphs.

2. Use photos to your advantage. If you are discussing a particular piece of jewelry you made, or how you just hung new curtains in your living room, please do use photos! Readers very much enjoy peeking into your world, and photos are the best way to support your words. Be sure to give proper credit or secure permission when using other people’s photographs.

3. Ask a question. Get your readers involved in a dialogue with you and other readers. Read all the comments and respond appropriately.

4. Follow up to that question with another post. Did you learn something new in your discussion? Did you change your point of view on an issue? Let your readers know you value them and blog about the discussion you had.

5. Make a Top 5 list or similar. See? It works, right? ;P
